About
Supporting the design + creative community in the Treasure Valley for decades
Mission + Purpose
BCPC is a welcoming, independent community for professional creatives in the Treasure Valley. We’re not here to push a single platform, product, or agency. Instead, we celebrate the full spectrum of creative work and the people who make it happen.
Whether you’re a seasoned professional at a large organization, a freelancer, a student, or someone who works closely with creatives, like a recruiter or developer, you’ll find value in our monthly meetups. We cover a wide range of topics that are useful, inspiring, and relevant to all corners of the creative world.
We’re proudly platform-agnostic, brand-neutral, and committed to keeping our events free and accessible to everyone. We welcome partnerships and sponsorships, but always promote all local talent and companies equally.
We’re always on the lookout for new organizers, presenters, venues, and sponsors for things like refreshments and speakers. We also actively promote and collaborate with other groups, tools, and learning resources to help grow the creative community.
Come connect, learn, share, and help shape the future of living and working in the Treasure Valley.
History
The Boise Creative Professionals Community started in February 2007 as the Boise Graphic/Web Design Meetup, a small group that gathered in downtown coffee houses to talk shop. Later that year it became an official Adobe User Group, and as the membership grew it took on the name Boise Graphic Design Group.
Over the next two decades the group met in restaurants, conference rooms, coworking spaces, and local businesses across downtown Boise. It hosted speaker nights, hands-on workshops, portfolio reviews, and casual socials, with topics ranging from typography and web design to video production, marketing, and running a creative business. Members also gave back, organizing coat and food drives and the Creative Good Benefit Auction, a multi-year fundraiser for Boise’s homeless community.
Like a lot of local groups, the community slowed during the pandemic. Rather than let it disappear, a group of longtime members brought it back, relaunching monthly events in 2025. As the creative field kept widening well past graphic design, the name widened with it. Today the group is the Boise Creative Professionals Community. The name is new. The mission, bringing creative people together to learn from one another, has not changed since 2007.
Leadership
BCPC is run by a team of volunteer co-organizers who plan events, line up speakers, and keep the community going month to month. They are working creative professionals who do this on their own time because they believe a strong local creative community is worth building. Meet the team below.

Aaron Day
Aaron Day has been part of this community since 2009, back when it was still the Boise Graphic Design Group. Over the years he has worn a lot of hats, from organizer to one of the group’s most frequent presenters, and his talks have covered WordPress, web design process, responsive design, CSS, and the realities of building a creative business.
He stepped away for a few years to focus on other projects, including starting and organizing the Creative Good Benefit Auction, and starting his latest web development agency, White Whale Web. But he stayed connected to the community and came back to reboot the group (thanks to Marco and Paul’s urging), because a group like this is worth keeping alive.
Aaron has been designing and developing for the web since 2001. He studied computer information systems at Boise State and multimedia production at the University of Washington. Through White Whale Web, he also sponsors BCPC, covering the Meetup subscription and event appetizers to help keep meetups free and open to everyone.
Paul Carew
From Philly to NYC to the creative frontier of Idaho, Paul’s career has been defined by adaptability, grit, and a deep commitment to people.
As founder of Carew Co. in the mid-2000s, he built a reputation for trust and insight. After merging with BrandCraft, he continued leading with purpose—mentoring talent, guiding teams, and driving impact for clients across industries.
Today, Paul brings that same energy and vision to The Trust Dept, a branding, design, and marketing agency built around what matters most: clarity, creativity, and relationships that last.

Marco Vazquez
Marco’s career has been a constant exercise in curiosity, from electronics and teaching to 3D, animation, web development, and immersive technology. Today, he architects learning and training experiences at Intracon, combining storytelling, web development, design, UX, video, 3D, and emerging technologies to make complex ideas engaging and accessible.
Outside of work, that same curiosity shows up in his garage through 3D printing, laser cutting, Arduino projects, and digital fabrication. He thrives at the intersection of creativity and technology and is always glad to talk shop, learn something new, or share what he’s picked up along the way, whether it’s about VR headsets, hobby electronics, or how to use AI without accidentally triggering Skynet.
